The Bläserphilharmonie Salzburg is the new name for what was formerly known as the Bläserphilharmonie Mozarteum Salzburg, which was founded in 2002 by Hansjörg Angerer as an orchestral formation of the Mozarteum University. The aim was to position this ensemble on an equal standing with classical symphony orchestras and traditional string formations by the performance of original compositions as well as works orchestrated especially for symphonic winds. Wind music performed at the highest level intends to achieve an essential influence on the symphonic wind repertoire.
